Alongside reviews of the prestigious old guard, we love to bring you evaluations of the freshest bookmakers on the market too. And, well… they don’t come much fresher than Virgin Bet! This is the definition of a new addition, with the whole (mobile-only) offering only launching on June 3rd.

While this youth might normally set alarm bells ringing – it’s normally a good idea to give a new bookie time to settle in, after all – we have no such concerns here. Not only is Virgin Bet connected to the extremely well-known Virgin brand; all the software has also been provided by one of the most prestigious developers in the betting industry, Gamesys.

Thanks to this enticing combination, we couldn’t resist conducting a full Virgin Bet review immediately. We’ll look at the new site’s promotions, features and customer support, and – most importantly – decide whether it’s already worth signing up for.

We currently recommend you try one of our other higher ranked brands, featured above.

Virgin Bet Sign Up Offer

When you’re looking for value in a sign up offer, it’s already a good idea to target a newer bookmaker. They need to make a name for themselves, after all, and this is the perfect way to do so. With Virgin Bet, a bookie which is brand new, this is taken to the extreme – the value here is absolutely outstanding.

Virgin Betting App Free

The Virgin Bet new customer offer is called ‘Bet £10, Get £20 in Free Bets’, and we’re pleased to say this is exactly what you get, with no strings attached.

There are really only a few conditions to know about:

  • Qualifying bet must be £10 or more, at odds of at least 1/2 (1.5)
  • Qualifying bet must be made and settled within 14 days of registration
  • Bonus will be awarded as two £10 free bets
  • Free bets must be used within 14 days of registration, at odds of… 1/100

We’re really not exaggerating when we say this is easily one of the best welcome offers on the market right now. Place a £10 bet, and – even if it loses – you’re guaranteed to get two more wagers with the same stake. The qualifying odds for the initial bet are extremely fair, and it’s unlikely those 1/100 minimum odds will bother you either when it comes to placing a Virgin Bet free bet.

This welcome offer is almost too good, and has clearly been designed to reel in newcomers as quickly as possible. We’d recommend taking advantage as soon as you can, while it’s still available!

New members. £10 min deposit & bet, placed & settled at 1.50 min odds within 14 days of sign-up. Awarded as 2x non-withdrawable £10 Free Bet Tokens, valid for 14 days. Must accept on My Bets page. Sportsbook only. Click here for Rules.

Virgin Bet Ongoing Promotions (Updated On: March 2021)

If there’s one negative to a great welcome offer, it’s that your expectations are raised accordingly for the ongoing promotions. Well, we’re disappointed to say that Virgin Bet fails to meet these expectations quite spectacularly.

There are absolutely no ongoing Virgin Bet promotions available right now. The ‘Promotions’ section is in place, but the only deals there are the welcome offer, the cash out feature (not exactly a ‘promotion’), and price boosts.

We suppose the latter could technically be called an offer, but just about every bookie under the sun offers enhanced odds on certain markets. Virgin Bet’s versions are solid, and cover multiple sports, but they’re usually just doubles bets bundled together.

Given the incredible youth of this bookie, it’s understandable that there isn’t a world-beating collection of promotions in place. One or two decent ongoing Virgin Bet offers isn’t too much to ask, though, and we’d hope to see these added in the very near future.

Virgin Bet Football Features

Virgin betting apps

As we briefly mentioned earlier, it’s somewhat acceptable not to have a full range of promotions in place when you launch a new bookmaker. One thing you’d better make sure you get right from the start, though, is the football features!

Virgin Bet does already have a dedicated section in place for the beautiful game, which is very well laid out. Rather than actual matches, you’re shown a list of competitions with upcoming games by default, sorted by popularity to help you find the biggest markets quickly. Pleasingly, there’s also a ‘Today’s football’ option towards the top, if you’re simply interested in that day’s games.

App

Dip into a competition, and you’ll be shown a full list of the upcoming matches. The 1/X/2 markets are shown by default, but you can change this to total goals, BTTS or double chance very quickly thanks to a handy drop-down menu. The layout for the actual match’s bets is pretty standard, but still highly functional. Alongside the usual markets, there are also some fun alternatives like ‘Team to win from behind’ which are prominently displayed. Another great innovation is that you can ‘pin’ certain markets, and come back to them later.

While there aren’t exactly any headline-grabbing innovations, Virgin Bet cash out and in-play features are both present and correct. The aforementioned price boosts – usually for doubles bets (e.g. ‘Team X to win and both teams to score’) – are also respectable, and there are a few handy statistics to help inform your picks. Overall, this is already a very solid football section indeed.

Other Betting Markets

One of the many pitfalls which new bookmakers tend to fall into is launching with an inferior lineup of sports on which to bet. There are several bookies out there which are a year or two old now and have still failed to add the second biggest betting sport, horse racing, for example.

Not so with Virgin Bet, who already have all the major bases covered comfortably. There are plenty of markets available on sports like cricket, golf, tennis and esports, and in-play betting is also supported for essentially every major sport. While horse racing isn’t quite ready to go at the time of writing, the section is in place, and live streaming will be supported once it has been launched.

Even if wagering on football isn’t your thing, there are still plenty of other avenues to go down with Virgin Bet.

Mobile Betting Options & App

We did mention this in the introduction, but it bears repeating – Virgin Bet is a mobile-only bookmaker. And we mean mobile-only: we tried loading the site on a tablet for this review, and even then we were advised to use a proper mobile device!

Virgin Betting App Download

Whether this automatically makes you dismiss the whole thing or not is down to you. For our part, we have no problem with it whatsoever. There are plenty of bookies out there who remain desktop-only, and many more who offer both desktop and mobile options. On-the-go betting has been becoming an increasingly popular option for years now, so – if a brand-new, well-funded bookmaker wants to focus entirely on this space – that sounds pretty good to us.

All this would be moot, of course, if the actual quality of the offering was terrible. Fortunately, it isn’t! The Virgin Bet mobile website is absolutely fantastic, with a clean white, grey and red colour scheme which makes everything easy to read. Navigation is easy too, courtesy of a small menu along the bottom through which you can swiftly access all the major sections – bet slip, open bets, account details, and so on. The whole thing works extremely smoothly too, even on middling wi-fi connections.

Essentially all of this applies to the Virgin Bet Android app too, although here you also have the addition of a speedy fingerprint login feature. Pleasingly, unlike a number of other Android betting apps, this one is also available directly from Google Play.

While that’s all well and good, the bad news is that – at the time of writing – there is no Virgin Bet app for iOS. The website assures us that it’s ‘coming soon’ though, and – as mentioned – there’s a very good mobile website for iPhone users in the meantime.

Security

You might automatically shy away from using a bookmaker which has only just been formed, due to concerns regarding its legitimacy. In this case, though – given the heritage of the brand and the developers involved – the question ‘Is Virgin Bet legit?’ can be answered with a firm ‘yes’.

As for specific security features, Virgin Bet do provide a few details. The website is protected by 128-bit SSL encryption, users’ information is stored on secure servers, and third-party services are used to check for and prevent fraud. Most importantly, this bookmaker holds full licenses with both the British Gambling Commission and the Gibraltar Gambling Commissioner.

Banking Options

Virgin Bet’s banking options aren’t the most extensive in the world, but they cover the major bases, we suppose.

You can make deposits using credit and debit cards, as you’d expect, plus Apple Pay and PayPal. All deposits are free to make, the minimum deposit amount is £10, and – while they should be processed instantly – payments can occasionally take up to 48 hours to process.

It’s largely the same story when making a Virgin Bet withdrawal. The minimum amount remains £10, and no fees are charged. Withdrawals usually process within four hours, and – if you made your deposit using Apple Pay – you must make a withdrawal to your bank account instead.

Customer Support

Not only does the Virgin Bet customer service absolutely smoke that of most other new bookies; it’s considerably better than what you’ll find from many bookmakers that have been around for years.

Right on the home page, Virgin Bet proudly offers ‘24/7 Customer Support’, which is fantastic. Every major contact option is already in place here, including live chat, phone and a ticketing service. Each of these options is extremely easy to find, either via a button which pops up in the corner of the home page, or in the Virgin Bet ‘Contact Us’ section.

In addition to this excellent direct support, you’ll also find a robust Help Centre. This is packed with a highly respectable number of articles, which are well-written and cover everything from deposits and withdrawals, to verifying your identity (if needed).

Despite its youth, the level of customer support on Virgin Bet is already high enough to put much more seasoned bookies to shame.

Virgin Bet Company Details

While it still holds the Virgin name and branding, technically Virgin Bet is no longer a part of Richard Branson’s famous company. Rather, it is owned by The Gamesys Group, who bought Virgin Games back in 2013.

Having been founded back in 2001 just as online gambling was really taking off, and now employing over 1,000 people around the world, Gamesys are easily one of the biggest and most prestigious names in online gaming operations. Also on board are SBTech, who have worked with some of the biggest betting firms in the world since being formed in 2007. Virgin Bet is in pretty good hands, basically.

Like many bookmakers, Virgin Bet is based in Gibraltar, where Gamesys also has an office with some 50 employees.

Virgin Bet Bottom Line

Regular readers will know we like to provide a very balanced perspective in our reviews, and we’ve tried to do the same here. To make things extremely clear for a moment, though, we were incredibly impressed with what we found in Virgin Bet.

It’s genuinely hard to believe that this bookmaker is so new. Frankly, it already offers vastly more than many bookies we could name which have been around for much longer. Having this level of quality at launch doesn’t happen by accident – it’s testament to a formidable amount of hard work and forward planning from the likes of industry veterans SBTech and Gamesys, for which they must be commended.

If you’re looking for a new high quality welcome offer right now, you won’t find a better one than Virgin Bet’s, and we’d expect this to drive up their user numbers quickly. Despite being mobile-only, you’ll also still find most of the conveniences you’d get from a desktop site here – like in-play and cash out features – all tied together by an effortlessly intuitive layout. The customer service – both for its range of options and quality – deserves a strong mention too.

Best Sports Betting Mobile Apps

Virgin Bet isn’t perfect, of course, but you wouldn’t expect it to be at this stage. The ongoing promotions in particular severely need bulking out, and we’d like to see some additions to the banking options too. For a mobile-only service, the release of an iOS app must also be a priority.

That said, even at this extremely early stage, Virgin Bet represents an absolutely excellent option. We have no trouble recommending it to you right now, particularly thanks to the brilliant Bet £10, Get £20 in Free Bets’ welcome offer that’s in place.
